Poll: dropping pulls at pickup

This is not an official scientific poll by or for the pickup committee. I just wanted to try the feature, and this is what I thought of first.

Rules are rules. Just sayin.

I voted: TURNOVER.
Because:
It's fun to practice ISO's and also endzone plays! All year round!

Cause people take it for granted otherwise. Nobody wants to feel taken for granted even if you're just a rule. Do it for the rule's sake. They have feelings too.

I depends on who drops it. If it's Andrew then it should definately be a turn. If it's someone who just came out for the first time. Then explain the rule and play on.

Realistically, how often does someone inexperienced enough that they don't know the rules set up to catch the pull? And where else in sports (or life) is lack of knowledge of a rule satisfactory criterion for breaking it without consequences?

Rich, haven't you seen the Dave Chapelle episode where he is a passenger in the car with his white friend who is drunk and stoned and decides he wants to race an unknowing car at a stop light? i remember distinctly what he told the cop when he gets pulled over. "I didn't know I couldn't do that." He got away without a ticket! I stand by my vote of it depends who it is who drops it. Btw, if Ian drops it again, it should not only be a turnover, but 10 push ups as well.

Agreed. For this year, anyway, 10 pushups per dropped pull. The rest of you had better play D while I'm doing them, because it takes me a while to get to 10.

Only white people can drop pulls. Is that it?

If the pull is dropped during warm up, there's no reason to call foul.

But if score is being kept, it might make sense to change possession. Change of possession makes sense in regard to promoting competitiveness, and preparation for tourneys/league.

However, my experience has been that pickup is rarely seriously competitive, so that forcing a turnover might betray the easygoing, lighthearted, fun atmosphere that dominates. I guess if a decision is made to force turnovers on dropped pulls, it would be important to enforce the rule consistently (during scored play.)

Then again, if forcing a turnover gets in the way of having fun, then it might be better to just let it be and play on.
