Whitewater rafting before the BBQ
What’s better than a summer BBQ hosted by Todd? Whitewater rafting followed by a summer BBQ! The National Weather Service is calling for it to be sunny on Saturday with a high of near 90. Join Greg (of shannon & greg) on the Toutle River for a little pre-BBQ wetness.
When: This Saturday from 9:00am to 3:30pm (so we can be back in time for the big BBQ).
Where: The Toutle River, class III+ (IV) See: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River_detail_id_2253
Who: You and the first 3-5 other adrenalin junkies from the extended Olympia Frisbee community who are ready for a little whitewater excitement (plus any kayakers who want to tag along, Arron?).
What (do you need to bring): Lifejacket, helmet, sunscreen, lunch. Splash jacket and wetsuit are highly recommended. Items can be borrowed or rented. Backpacker Supply in Tacoma has helmets and PDF’s for $5 each and they rent wetsuits for $15. Kayakers are good people to hit up for PDF's and helmets.
How: If you're interested in going, e-mail Greg (stewart@collbett.org) or post here. Greg’s going boating no matter what, but he won't go rafting unless he’s got 3-6 people who want to join him. If we can't get a group together by Friday afternoon, Greg's going kayaking. So start calling friends and see if we can round up a few helmets and lifejackets.
All the typical whitewater warnings apply (i.e. participation may expose individuals to bodily or personal injury including death resulting from motor vehicle accidents, drowning, bruises, sunburn, broken bones, etc... Not that we expect any of these things to actually occur).

Re: Whitewater rafting before the BBQ
Not that this helps, but Swiftwater Sports in Seattle also has wetsuits and such to rent in case you can coax someone down from that way.

...and...
...and any CPR/mouth to mouth you may do on the river will help you warm up for the heavy make out/heavy petting session at Todd's party!
See? It will work perfectly!

Re: Whitewater rafting before the BBQ
So far it's just me, Chantel, and Mike. No more takers? It's gonna be HOT this weekend! It's forecast to hit 91 in Olympia, 93 near the Toutle, and 97 in Portland.
Poor Beth and Corey sweating it out in the mountains while some of us play in the water. Be a part of the water crew. Stay cool! -greg

Good job everyone (from right to left: Shawntel, Corey, Beth, Mike, Kevin, and Mark)! You managed to stay in the boat AND keep a hold of your paddle.
